Packaging of industrial equipment on IPPC-certified wooden pallets, protected with VCI film and heat-shrink film

Danpol carried out comprehensive export packaging for four pieces of industrial equipment, for which dedicated IPPC-certified wooden pallets were designed and manufactured, individually tailored to the dimensions and weight of each consignment. The project involved multi-layered protection of the equipment using VCI anti-corrosion film and heat-shrink film, as well as the use of desiccants and secure fastening on the pallets, ensuring full protection during transport.

Scope of the service provided:

  • Design and manufacture of an IPPC platform measuring 2550 × 1800 × 130 mm for a piece of equipment measuring 2510 × 1750 × 2510 mm
  • Design and manufacture of an IPPC platform measuring 3950 x 1850 x 130 mm for a piece of equipment measuring 3900 x 1600 x 600 mm
  • Design and manufacture of an IPPC platform measuring 3900 × 2300 × 130 mm for a piece of equipment measuring 3900 × 2300 × 600 mm
  • Design and manufacture of an IPPC platform measuring 2550 x 2000 x 130 mm for a piece of equipment measuring 2510 x 1980 x 2450 mm
  • Wrapping all equipment in VCI anti-corrosion film containing volatile corrosion inhibitors
  • Sealing with heat-shrink film
  • Mounting each device on a dedicated platform

Description of the order fulfilment:

Design and manufacture of bespoke IPPC platforms

An individual wooden platform, certified to IPPC and compliant with the ISPM 15 standard, was designed and constructed for each of the four pieces of equipment. The dimensions of the platforms were precisely tailored to the dimensions of the individual units – ranging from a compact platform measuring 2550x1800x130 mm, through to the larger structures measuring 3950x1850x130 mm and 3900x2300x130 mm, right up to the platform measuring 2550x2000x130 mm. All pallets are made from kiln-dried softwood, ensuring compliance with international phytosanitary regulations governing export transport.

Corrosion protection using VCI film

Each piece of equipment has been thoroughly wrapped in VCI anti-corrosion film, which contains volatile corrosion inhibitors. This type of film creates an active chemical barrier that effectively protects the metal components of the equipment from oxidation throughout the entire transport and storage process, regardless of changing weather conditions.

Packaging in heat-shrink film

After being treated with an anti-corrosion coating, all devices were wrapped in high-quality heat-shrink film. After the shrink-wrapping process, the film moulded perfectly to the shape of each device, creating a durable and damage-resistant coating that protects against dust, moisture and other external factors during transport.

The use of moisture absorbers

Carefully selected moisture absorbers are placed inside each package to minimise the risk of water vapour condensation during temperature fluctuations. This solution further enhances corrosion protection and ensures stable conditions inside the package throughout the entire transport period.

Mounting equipment on platforms

Each piece of equipment has been securely mounted on a dedicated platform, which prevents it from shifting during transport and handling. The precise matching of the platform’s dimensions to the equipment’s overall dimensions has allowed for the optimal distribution of fixing points, ensuring maximum stability of the entire structure.

Quality control and preparation for dispatch

Once all packaging work had been completed, a detailed quality control check was carried out on each of the four sets, verifying the integrity of the film, the completeness of the anti-corrosion protection and the stability of the fixings on the platforms. All equipment was prepared for safe transport, ensuring full protection at every stage of the logistics chain.
