Export packaging of a robotic line for the automotive industry

We realised an advanced export packaging project of a robotised line for the production of fuel tanks for the automotive industry. The realisation was distinguished by its high level of complexity, involving the manufacture and delivery of 7 IPPC transport boxes of varying dimensions and the execution of professional packing work directly at the customer’s plant in Lublin.

Scope of service provided:

  • Manufacture and delivery of 7 IPPC transport boxes of varying dimensions (from the smallest 1950x1950x1370 mm to the largest 5600x2900x2600 mm)
  • Design and construction of dedicated wooden platforms
  • Comprehensive corrosion protection using VCI films
  • Vacuum packaging with ALU barrier film
  • Use of moisture absorbers and anti-corrosion capsules inside the boxes
    Cutting out an inspection window in the box to monitor the moisture indicator
  • Printing of transport markings and installation of vapour-proof film

Description of the implementation of the order:

Preparation and delivery of IPPC transport boxes

The first stage of the project was the design and manufacture of 7 dedicated wooden transport boxes compliant with international IPPC standards. The crates were made taking into account the specific dimensions of the individual components of the robotised line, which guaranteed a perfect fit and maximum protection. The largest crate, with external dimensions of 5600x2900x2600 mm, was designed with special structural reinforcements to ensure stability during sea transport. The crates were delivered to the customer’s plant in Lublin, where Danpol’s team carried out further packing work.

Design and construction of platforms adapted to robotic line elements

To ensure the stability and safety of the machinery being transported, the Danpol team designed and manufactured special wooden platforms, adapted to the shape and weight of the individual components of the production line. The platforms were precisely matched to the internal dimensions of the crates, which enabled optimum distribution of the load and its proper protection. Higher-strength timber was used, dried in accordance with IPPC phytosanitary requirements.

Multi-level component corrosion protection

A key step in the packaging process was the comprehensive corrosion protection of the robotic line components. A specialised VCI film with volatile corrosion inhibitors was used, which forms an invisible protective layer on metal surfaces. The cargo was then vacuum-packed in an ALU barrier film, ensuring full insulation from external factors. In addition, anti-corrosion capsules and moisture absorbers were placed inside each box to provide long-lasting protection against corrosion during sea transport and subsequent storage. .

Securing and stabilising the load inside the boxes

Once the elements of the robotic line were placed on dedicated platforms, the process of immobilising and stabilising them was carried out. Professional Cordlash straps were used to secure the load to the ground, preventing shifting during transport.

Innovative monitoring and security solutions

The crates feature a special inspection window, which allows the moisture indicator to be read without having to open the entire package. This solution allows for real-time monitoring of the conditions inside the crate during transport and storage. The required transport markings have been applied to all boxes to ensure correct identification of the load and handling instructions. A vapour-permeable film and protective tarpaulin were also used, further protecting the crates from adverse weather conditions.
