Our Projects

Export packaging of pumps for sea transport in IPPC crates

We carried out the complex export packing of two pumps in Leszno, destined for sea transport. The project required the design and manufacture of specialised IPPC transport boxes and the application of a multi-level protection system, including corrosion protection, moisture protection and cargo stabilisation. Thanks to the use of advanced technical solutions and top-quality materials, the pumps were fully protected against adverse weather conditions, corrosion and mechanical damage that may occur during sea transport.

Scope of service provided:

  • Design and construction of 2 IPPC boxes with dimensions of 2850x1150x1850 mm
  • Packaging of pumps in VCI corrosion protection film with volatile corrosion inhibitors
  • Protection with ALU barrier film
  • Use of moisture absorbers
  • Fixing the pumps inside the boxes
  • Printing transport markings on transport boxes
  • Installation of tarpaulin, vapour-proof membrane and transport markings

Description of the implementation of the order:

Design and manufacture of dedicated IPPC transport boxes

Based on the exact dimensions and specifications of the pumps, Danpol specialists designed and manufactured two wooden transport crates with dimensions of 2850x1150x1850 mm. The crates were made of plywood and certified dry coniferous timber with an IPPC phytosanitary certificate in accordance with the ISPM15 standard, which is essential for international transport. The construction of the crates has been reinforced at critical points to ensure maximum protection and stability during sea transport.

Corrosion protection for pumps

The pumps have been thoroughly protected with a VCI anti-corrosion film containing ZERUST/EXCOR brand volatile corrosion inhibitors. This type of film creates an active chemical barrier that effectively protects the metal components of the pumps from oxidation and corrosion. This is particularly important in marine transport, where air humidity and salinity can significantly accelerate corrosion processes. All sensitive surfaces and hotspots have been protected with special care to ensure full corrosion protection.

Packaging in ALU barrier film and moisture protection

After basic protection, the pumps were packaged in a specialised ALU barrier film, which provides exceptional airtightness and insulation from external conditions. The packaging process was carried out with the utmost precision, allowing the pumps to be completely isolated from the effects of moisture, oxygen and other atmospheric factors. In addition, moisture absorbers have been placed inside the packaging to minimise the risk of condensation during temperature changes and protect against moisture throughout the transport period.

Application of additional safeguards

The entire load was wrapped in stretch film, providing an additional layer of protection against external factors and reinforcing the stability of the package. A fastening system has been fitted inside the box to immobilise the unit and eliminate the risk of shifting during transport. Professional Cordlash straps are also used to ensure that the load is securely fastened to the ground.

Installation of tarpaulin, vapour-proof membrane and transport markings

A vapour-permeable film was installed on the walls and lid of the box to allow excess moisture to escape from the inside of the packaging and protect it from infiltration from the outside. The box was additionally protected with a tarpaulin, providing an external protective barrier against the weather. Appropriate transport markings were placed on the packaging, including information on dimensions, weight and instructions for handling the load.
