Export packaging of control cabinets with accessories for G-Flex for air transport
Danpol carried out a complex export packing of control cabinets with accessories for G-Flex, intended for air transport. The project required the use of specialised protection solutions to meet the stringent standards of air cargo transport. The implementation included the design and manufacture of three dedicated IPPC-certified transport boxes and multi-level protection of the cargo against moisture, corrosion and mechanical damage during transport and handling.
Scope of service provided:
Description of the implementation of the order:
Design and manufacture of dedicated wooden IPPC transport boxes
Three specialised transport boxes of different dimensions were designed and manufactured for the control cabinet with accessories, adapted to the dimensions and weight of the load. The largest crate (2300x2200x800 mm) was designed to transport the control cabinet in a horizontal position, as required for air transport. All crates were made of certified timber compliant with the international IPPC/ISPM15 standard, which guaranteed compliance with phytosanitary regulations applicable to international transport. The design of the crates provided the necessary strength and rigidity to protect sensitive electronic equipment during air transport.
Reinforced plywood sheathing and special transport protection
The main transport box was finished with a 24 mm thick reinforced plywood sheathing, which significantly increased the package’s resistance to mechanical damage. Two professional tilt indicators were mounted on the outer sheathing to monitor any irregularities in load handling during transport and handling. In addition, two shock indicators were mounted inside the control cabinet to record potential impacts that could affect the functionality of the unit.
Corrosion and moisture protection
The control cabinet and its accessories have been carefully protected with a VCI anti-corrosion film with volatile corrosion inhibitors, which form an active chemical barrier to protect the metal components from oxidation. Suitably sized moisture absorbers have also been placed inside each box to minimise the risk of condensation during the temperature and pressure changes that occur in air transport.
Special load securing in horizontal position
Due to the requirements of air transport, the control cabinet was fixed in a horizontal position. A system of dedicated mounts and stabilisers was used to effectively secure the unit against movement and ensure even pressure distribution. Professional fastening straps and cushioning elements were used to protect the cabinet from shock and vibration.
Additional safeguards for electronic equipment
The electronic equipment accompanying the control cabinets was placed in two smaller boxes, where comprehensive protection was also applied. Each component was individually protected with VCI anti-corrosion film and then secured inside the boxes in a way that prevents movement. Particular attention was paid to sensitive and delicate electronic components, which received an extra layer of protection.
